Jaguars Head Men's-Women's Track and Field Coach John Niendorf talks about Stanko finishing 15th at Nationals in the 1500 race on Thursday, May 22.
"I was so impressed with Krysta for, not only making it to Nationals, but for finishing 15th in the country. Krysta was the first athlete to make it Nationals on women's side for our young track and field program. She ran up against the best in the country in the 1500-meter race and made her University proud. Krysta Stanko has done everything the right way and worked so hard to get to this point. What makes it even more impressive is that Krysta is just a sophomore and has a lot left ahead of her. I can't wait to see the continued growth of this young athlete."
GovState thrower Clark Fremouw, Jaguar graduate student, placed 21st in the discus competition at NAIA Nationals held at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Coach Niendorf on Fremouw's record-breaking season at GovState.
"Clark Fremouw really impressed me this season with his dedication to his craft. He gave it everything he had this season and finishing 21st in the country in discus is no small feat. He was the first male athlete in GSU history to make it to Nationals in Track and Field. I am so proud of Clark and everything that he has accomplished this season. He has contributed so much to this team and his character is next to none. I cannot wait to see what he does next year!," said Coach Niendorf.
