GSU Head men's and women's track teams coach John Niendorf and his comments on the Last Chance Meet:

"There was a ton of outstanding performances for the last chance invitational, hosted by St. Francis. There were personal records achieved on both the men's and women's side. Krysta Stanko shattered the women's 1500 record, running a 4:53 in the event and took first overall in her heat. Avery Kittl ran one of the gutsiest races I have seen as a coach in the women's 5k. She ran broke 19 minutes, running an 18:58. Madison Siergiej, Yahaira Rodriguez, Jinni Jimenez, Diana Perez, and Jennifer Tomasic also achieved personal bests in the 1500-meter race. Madison Siergiej also made her debut in javelin, throwing alongside Addie Prokop, Morgan Pieczynski, and Sierra Houts. Many of our young javelin girls were able to PR today as well."

"On the men's side, Colin O'Brien ran a 10:02 in the steeple chase, giving him the third best mark in the conference. Daniel Zavala broke the school record in the 5k and ran a 15:04 in the event. Alejandro Vieyra and Ryan Gayton also achieved personal bests in the 800-meter dash. Branden DeLeon ran a 4:11 in the 1500 in windy conditions, matching his own PR. Damian Alvarado achieved another personal best in the 400 hurdles to finish out the evening."

"Overall, the two-day meet went incredibly well, and I was happy to see a lot of the athletes beat their season bests on the last meet of the season before Nationals. There is a lot to build upon after this season and I believe that a lot of these performances will propel them to even bigger heights next season," said Coach Niendorf.
