Coach Niendorf comments on the third indoor meet of the 2025-26 season.
"This was another excellent day for GSU track and field. There were plenty of personal records across the board. On the men's side Steven Session, a true freshman, hit a massive mark in his high jump. He jumped 2.03 meters and now owns the 14th best mark in the NAIA. His counterpart, Jonathan Brooks finished 5th in the triple jump, hitting a 12.60-meter mark. Samuel Rocio, Daniel Zavala, Alex Ortiz, Parker Griffin, Ryan Gayton, and Mason Reyes each hit personal records for their indoor mile races for GSU. Devon Hayes ran a gutsy race, placing third overall in the 800-meter dash. I was proud of the way he competed out there. Antoine Morgan also hit a pr in the event, running a 2:09. Clark Fremouw placed third in the shot put and is now ranked 40th in the country. The 3k race featured exciting pr performances from Elija Jones, Parker Griffin, Randy Almarales, and Evan Stacy."
"On the women's side Sophia Flowers and Kaylee O'Sullivan placed 3rd and 5th respectively. Sophia ran a 5:21 and Kaylee finished the mile in 5:26. Ella Cornfield, Ava Tomala, and Gisela Alcantara also achieved personal records in the event. In the 800 meters race, Sophia Flowers, Kaylee O'Sullivan, and Sydney Bonham placed 4th, 6th, and 8th respectively. The women's 3k was filled with excellent performances. Yahaira Rodriguez continued who fantastic start to the indoor season with a 11:11 3k mark, earning herself a 5th place finish. This was her first time running the event and she made the most of it with a great race. Morgan Pieczynski also ran a personal record in the 3k, with a 11:16 mark. This was good enough to earn her a seventh place finish. Julie Macias made her GSU debut with an 8th place finish in the 3k, running an 11:21. Allison Sadus and Madison Siergiej each ran their first colligate 3ks and I thought they worked through their respective races well. Overall, it looks like our team is going to continue to improve meet after meet and this was another good steppingstone towards even better performances later in the season."
