Men's Soccer Loses 1-0 at Nationals Thursday vs. Briar Cliff (Iowa) in Post-Season First Round

WINONA LAKE, Indiana - GSU Men's Soccer Team Loses 1-0 at Nationals Thursday vs. Briar Cliff (Iowa) in First Round 

GSU (8-10-1) carried the play in both the first and second half out-shooting the Chargers 25-5 in the contest. The Jaguars had 8 shots on goal and Briar Cliff 3 on net.

The Chargers scored early in the eighth minute of the game to go ahead 1-0 and held on for the NAIA first round win at One Source Field in Winona Lake, Indiana.

Briar Cliff (14-2-3) next plays #3 Grace for the regional championship Saturday and the winner goes onto the NAIA Finals Nov 27-Dec. 4 in Wichita, Kansas.

Governors State qualified for the NAIA National post-season tournament for the second time (2021) in the five year history of the program. GSU was 8-2-1, 2nd place finisher in the CCAC regular season and qualified for the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference playoffs for the fifth time in five years.
