MEN'S SOCCER END FIRST WEEK OF PRESEASON PRACTICES WITH VARSITY RESERVE SCRIMMAGE FRIDAY AT SOUTH SUBURBAN - SATURDAY VARSITY AT CROWN POINT NOON SCRIMMAGE VS. PRAIRIE STATE

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL - Two preseason scrimmages end the first week of 2023 season practices for the Jaguar men's soccer team. The varsity reserve team will play at South Suburban College 5 p.m. Friday. And the GSU varsity team will host Prairie State College at noon Saturday at the Crown Point, IN Sportsplex.

GSU Head Men's Soccer Coach Matt Eggert comments on the first week of practices.

"We are just looking to get to know each other better. Developing that team spirit and getting a framework in place we can build on during the course of the year," said Coach Eggert.

"We look at these first few games as an opportunity to play on a quality surface against quality opponents. It's a chance for the guys to show what they can do within our team framework and develop those connections that are so important in our game,"

The Jaguars open the 2023 season playing at William Penn in Iowa August 19 and are at the NAIA's #1 men's soccer team Bethel University (Indiana) on August 24. GSU's updated men's soccer season schedule will be announced next week.
