GSU's Davis Sweeps Men's Basketball Player of the Week Honors
CHICAGO --- Call it a sweep for Governors State University's Vincent Davis (Chicago, Ill.) after the sophomore power forward claimed both Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors for the seven-day period ending Feb. 2. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday morning.
Davis had his hands in on all aspects of the Jaguars' offense and defense, averaging 24.5 points on 50 percent shooting from the field (16-of-32), 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks in his two games played last week. Governors State split the decisions to put itself at 10-12 overall and 6-8 in conference play.
Davis had a scrapbook game last Wednesday in a 91-82 road victory at Judson University. Not only did he ring up a game-high 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting (64.7 pct.), but he also totaled six rebounds (five defensive), six assists, four blocks and two steals.
He added another 17 points, seven rebounds, three steals and one assist on Saturday in a 72-65 setback to Indiana University South Bend.
