GSU's TAYLOR ELLISON ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM - JAGUARS COMPETE IN FIRST-EVER WOMEN'S BOWLING TOURNAMENT IN ROCKFORD
ROCKFORD, IL - Governors State University women's bowling team competed in its first-ever tournament last weekend in Rockford, Illinois and the Jaguars' Taylor Ellison was named to the five-player All-Tournament team placing fourth overall in scoring with a 190.6 average to lead GSU.
"The team did an amazing job this weekend learning. As a brand-new program, you have to go into these events with an open mindset, and these ladies did just that! We had to overcome some nerves—but that's normal. However, throughout the day they kept their composure, they fought hard, and stayed calm during some of the hardest parts of the day."
"This event was a great learning experience for our lady Jaguars, and I cannot wait to see how our future events go now that all 5 of them have a little bit of experience under them," said GSU Head Bowling Coach Melanie McDaniel.
GSU had 5 traditional games on Saturday (individual scoring) total of 25 games.
The Jaguars had 16 baker games on Sunday (each player throws 2 shots in the game in a specific order).
Governors State placed 10th out of 13 teams in the tournament won by Calumet College with a team tournament title over St. Ambrose in the championship team match.
