Governors State Tops Field of Women's Cross Country All-Academic Selections

CHICAGO --- Led by Governors State University's 12 selections, all nine schools sponsoring women's cross country were represented on the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference all-academic team, which was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The Jaguars' program was the only one to boast double-figure recipients.  League champion Olivet Nazarene University was the next-closest challenger with seven awardees, followed by St. Ambrose University with six.

Earning five spots on the team were both Trinity Christian College and Viterbo University, while Mount Mary University and University of St. Francis each gained four slots.  Rounding out the list was Saint Xavier University with three individuals and Judson University with two.

A total of 48 individuals overall were named to the squad with 11 of those being repeat selections and seven making the team for the third straight year.  Six members of the unit had perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point averages.

To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must have been enrolled at her respective CCAC school for a minimum of one academic year, have completed at least 30 semester hours and boast no less than a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
