Coach John Niendorf talked about all the top highlights of the 2026 - Indoor CCACs -

"There were some amazing performances put there these past two days at the CCAC indoor conference meet. To start on the men's side, the men's 4x800 took all conference honors with their 3rd place finish. The participating Jaguars in the relay were Antoine Morgan, Randy Almarales, Branden DeLeon, and Devon Hayes. The 5k produced some intense finishes and the competitive level of the runners was at an all-time high for this race. Daniel Zavala was able to have a huge kick right at the end of race and was able to become the first Jaguar ever to be conference champion in the 5k distance. Samuel Rocio ran incredibly tough and was able to fend off another runner right at the end of the race to gain all-conference honors with a big 3rd pace finish.

"I was so proud of the way Alex Ortiz ran his 5k as well. He placed 8th and managed to beat his own personal record with a 15:40 finish. Andie Sima also bested his previous pr with a 17:04 5k finish. Clark Fremouw achieved all-conference honors as well in the shot put with his 3rd place throw. Steven Session, a true freshman, stepped up big time for GSU with his first-place finish in the high jump. His jump of 2.01 meters bested the entire field and he currently sits at 21st in the country. He also scored five points for us in the triple jump as well with his 4th place finish. Staying on the jumps side of things, Jonathan Brooks placed 6th in triple jump and scored his team 3 points. In the heptathlon, Sean O'Brien finished 8th, scoring a point for the Jaguars. Jamar Ross, Harry Jimenez, and Jayson Wold all achieved personal bests in the 200. Devinn Jones also beat his previous pr in the 60-meter dash with his 7.48 second finish. Ryan Gayton achieved a personal best in the 1k race as well. The men's mile produced a solid amount of pr's highlighted by Devon Hayes beating the previous school records in the mile. Branden DeLeon and Alex Ortiz also beat their previous indoor pr's for this indoor season. Alejandro Vieyra ran an excellent 800 and beat his season best as well. Other season bests were had in the 3k with Ian French and Parker Griffin each running 9:04 and 9:18 in the 3k respectively. Jayson Wold ran a tough race in the 600-meter dash for his first time competing in the event. Overall, I was thrilled with the way our men competed out there on Friday and Saturday. I believe that this will be an excellent steppingstone towards even bigger achievements this outdoor season."

"On the women's side, there is plenty of praise to go around. The women's 4x800 were conference champions for the second year in a row. The team was fielded by Sophia Flowers, Yahaira Rodriguez, Sydney Bonham, and Kaylee O'Sullivan. These women have worked extremely hard and it's nice to see all that work pay off. In the triple jump, Trenyce Bonner took all conference honors with her 3rd place jump. She jumped 10.75 meters in the event. Sydney Bonham scored a point in the 800 with her 8th place finish. Ella Cornfield, Gisela Alcantara, and Allison Sadus each achieved season bests in the 800. Sophia Flowers hit a big pr in the mile with her 5:12 finish. She placed 5th in the event, earning the team 4 points."

"The women's 3k had some excellent finishes as well with Sophia Flowers taking 4th overall and running a school record, 10:27, in the race. Yahaira Rodriguez phenomenal indoor season continued Saturday with her ten second pr in the 3k, running an 11:01. I was pleased with the way the women performed at conference. A lot of them were given a big workload and they stepped up in a big way for us. Now, we reset and get ready for some big performances for the outdoor season."
