As a seasoned Esports professional, Kareem Badr has achieved significant milestones in collegiate esports. With Lourdes University (Sylvania, Ohio), Badr secured the Great Lakes Esports Conference Championships in Overwatch in Spring 2021 and the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships in Overwatch in Spring 2022. Badr attained a Top 16 national ranking in the Activision-Blizzard publisher tournament for Overwatch in Spring 2022.
Kareem also demonstrated leadership as the captain of the Rocket League Team at Lourdes University, and during his time there, he competed in Tennis, Overwatch, and Rocket League, earning recognition as one of the top individuals in the program and making a positive impact among his peers.
Kareem holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Lourdes University, earned in 2022. Badr received 2x First Team awards and 1x Second Team award from the Great Lakes Esports Conference for his performances in Overwatch and Rocket League while attending Lourdes University.
Coach Badr has also contributed to the advancement of collegiate Esports by serving as the Student Developmental Lead for the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) for one year. In this role, he played a key role in nurturing emerging talent and providing students with a platform to voice their concerns and feedback to the administration.
Badr is on track to complete a Master's in Business Administration from Siena Heights University in 2024. As a Graduate Assistant Coach, he led the Siena Heights University Valorant Team to the Grand Finals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Varsity Premier Fall 2023 League in the team's inaugural semester.
Coach Badr commented on his new position at Governors State University. "Starting up the GSU Esports team is an exciting opportunity for me. My main goal is to build strong teams in Overwatch, Rocket League, and Valorant. In the first few months, I want to focus on recruiting talented players and creating a coed environment where anyone feels welcome and valued. I believe in the importance of cultural representation and giving students a voice, so I want to make sure our program reflects those values."
"For our first year, my goal is to establish a competitive presence in collegiate Esports and foster a supportive and inclusive community. I want our team to compete at a high level and start making a name for GSU in the collegiate Esports world. Building a solid foundation is key, so we'll focus on team cohesion, skill development, and creating a positive team culture that promotes growth and success for everyone involved.," said Coach Badr.

Jaguars Launch Esports Coed Program For 2024-25 - Kareem Badr Named Head Esports Coach For GovState
Governors State University Athletic Director Tony Bates announced the Jaguars Athletic Department will be adding the Coed Esports program in the 2024-25 school year. GSU will be competing with the NAIA national power Esports programs in the CCAC Conference.
"This is exciting for Jaguars Athletics and growing our family with the new Esports coed team. We look for great things for the Esports Jaguars and to be part of the already established Esports programs in the NAIA and the CCAC will be a challenge for Coach Badr and the team," said Bates.
Bates also named Kareem Badr as the Head Esports Coach, effective July 1, 2024. "We had a lot of qualified Head Esports Coaches that we spoke with. Coach Kareem is ready and excited about starting our new Esports program. He is out on the recruiting trail finding high level Student-Athletes," Bates said.
