BOURBONNAIS, IL – Just two weeks into the season, Governors State caught a sneak preview of what the best teams in the conference have to offer on Friday. The Jaguars scored 120 points to finish fourth at the Midwest Classic, held at the Aspen Ridge Golf Course. St. Xavier (29) edged host Olivet Nazarene (35) — teams that finished second and third respectively at last year's CCAC Championships — while Greenville finished third (60).

Emily Metzger led GSU across the finish line (54th overall) with a 5K time of 26:48.91, just ahead of teammate Dominique Hunt, who clocked in at 27:11.0. Phaishe Thompson, Elizabeth Shirk and Kendra Riley were also part of GSU's scoring lineup.

"This meet always shows us how far we've come and how much we need to go," said GSU Head Coach Kevin Kredens. "We're a little beat up right now but I'm proud of our effort."

GSU has three weeks off before returning to the same course to compete in the Illinois Intercollegiate on Sept. 29.
