Volleyball Drops CCAC Match Against Trinity Christian

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL – After winning four of five matches to start the season, Governors State suddenly finds itself 0-2 in league play following a 25-11, 25-20, 25-9 setback to visiting Trinity Christian Thursday evening.

For the second match in a row, the Jaguars (4-3, 0-2 CCAC) hit poorly, registering a .015 attack percentage based on 21 kills and 20 errors in 67 attempts. Trinity Christian (4-5, 1-0 CCAC) meanwhile hit .333 in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match that took just over one hour at the Athletics and Recreation Center. Lydia Smits paced the Trolls with nine kills, hitting .533 for the evening.

Erika Halverson led GSU with eight kills and was the team's most effective hitter (.294). Ashley Pickert added six kills and three block assists while Anastasija Jurisic gathered 11 digs.

"Tonight we saw some of what afflicted us at St. Francis (on Tuesday)," stated GSU Head Coach Pedro Gonzalez. "We're still learning to play with confidence and to find that competitive edge, especially when things get tough. It's an area we will continue to work on."

GSU resumes CCAC action on Tuesday, traveling to Calumet St. Joseph.
