UNIVERSITY PARK, IL – Three members of the Governors State University women's golf team have been honored as NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athletes for the 2016-17 season. The school's first-ever golf selections are Hollie Campbell, Megan Kirn and Ava Marciniak

The award recognizes student-athletes who are juniors or above in academic standing and own a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher (as of the 2016 fall term). They also must have attended two full years at their respective institution or a full year as a transfer. A total of 174 golf student-athletes were recognized by the NAIA.

"This is a tremendous honor for our golf program — Ava, Hollie and Megan are very deserving of this award", said GSU Head Coach Mark Haines. "I'm really proud of the job our ladies have done in the classroom this year and the improvement we have seen on the course as well."

In two seasons of intercollegiate competition, six GSU student-athletes have earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors: women's basketball player Kanitral Averhart (twice), volleyball players Savik Salgado and Hayley Wacker along with Campbell, Kirn and Marciniak.
